New Frontiers in Indonesian Development, with Governor Ridwan Kamil

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil was one of the keynote speakers at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hilton, Los AngelesCalifornia on Monday, May 1, 2023.

The conference was attended by several renowned personalities, including Faisal Alibrahim, the Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, Elevandi Pat Patel, the Executive Director, and Peter Pernot-Day, the Head of Strategy and Global SHEIN Enterprises.

The session entitled “A Roadmap to Rejuvenation: Rewiring the World Economy | Part 2: Globalization 2.0: New Paradigms in Innovation and Integration” focused on new paradigms in innovation and integration that can help the world economy recover.

As the Chair of the Association of Regional Governments Producing Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy (ADPMET), Ridwan Kamil explained that West Java is home to 60 percent of industry in Indonesia and has the largest reserves of renewable energy, intellectual human resources, and excellent bureaucracy.

“We have prepared a plan to deal with global disturbances and megatrends. We believe now is the time for local products to circulate in the global market. That way, products and human resources will be easier to manage, opening up job opportunities and a better bargaining position,” said the Governor, who is often called Kang Emil. Kang Emil also emphasized his vision in creating a livable and sustainable future for West Java.

The Milken Institute Global Conference is an annual event that invites various speakers from across sectors to share their views on the transformation of globalization. It aims to use technology and digitalization to overcome new global challenges and create innovations that are more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.

This year’s conference, held from April 30 to May 3, 2023, was attended by world-renowned personalities with expertise in the fields of health, finance, business, technology, philanthropy, industry, and society.

The conference’s 26th annual event focused on the challenges facing the world in the fields of public health, business and industry, society, and culture. Kang Emil’s participation in the conference signifies Indonesia‘s readiness to contribute to global economic development.
